I’m Not An Expert In AI

managing AI in organizations

Not exactly what you'd expect from someone who’s been talking nonstop about the Third Workforce, but let me explain.

25 years ago, I led the effort to create the first global e-Invoices solution. There was no SaaS. No cloud. Definitely no ChatGPT. Just a bold vision and a team of developers who wanted to build something extraordinary.

We had our fair share of technical challenges. However, we encountered a problem, not unlike the mindset people have today: the paper invoice was how governments tracked and audited taxes. They didn't want to change. They couldn't see how it could be better. So, we did the only thing we could…we met with officials from the Philippines, the UK, Australia, Israel, New Zealand, and other countries. We showed them the benefit of going electronic. Not only did they give us the green light, but some even asked for help rewriting their laws to support electronic transactions.

That experience, along with my time in Intel’s e-Business Function, gave me a front-row seat to what happens when people and systems truly integrate across sales, buy, plan, and make processes. Our CFO even asked me: What happens when we get to 100% e-Business? I did the research and concluded that the CFO didn’t need to worry about it before he retired.Workforce One (W1): The Core

These are my executive search consultants. The ones who have walked factory floors, advised CHROs, and know how to headhunt with skill. They’re industry-savvy, human-centered, and deeply connected to the clients and candidates we serve. W1 is my anchor.

Fast forward to today…

AI has made it possible for any company to operate with a new level of integration. Bots process transactions. Agents forecast demand. Systems update the GL in real time. We’re closer than ever to that original vision of a 100% e-business organization, but with a whole new layer of complexity and risk.

That’s why I created an updated white paper on ‘How to Govern AI-Driven Transactions.’ It’s a modern guide to managing the invisible, high-speed digital workforce you may already have. Governance of the Third Workforce is key, which requires a better understanding of what this new workforce is actually doing.

No, I’m not an AI expert. But I’ve been here before. And I know what it takes to build something that lasts..
